Dearest Red, I know it's been awhile since last we've seen each other—the tallies I make each day that you do not visit me attests as much—but it is high time for us to remedy this! Please come visit your poor, lovely grandmother with greatest haste! If the idea of spending a lovely afternoon by my bedside, quietly enjoying each other's company isn't enough to entice you, perhaps this will: Many years ago—when I was still a young woman, not much older than yourself—near the end of the war, I came across a massacred baggage train. The lieutenant in charge of the train told me, with his dying breaths, that the wolves had fallen upon them and killed most of his comrades before they even had a chance to unsheath their swords but had failed to steal the baggage train's most precious cargo. As that man died, he handed the small chest to me and made me promise to keep it safe. I have done just that for decades now, but I fear that I won't be able to for much longer. I'm not sure how, but I believe the wolves have discovered just what treasure they failed to capture all those years ago and—what's worse—that I am its protector. Please, Red. Come to my cottage, take charge of this power—this burden, and keep it safe from those mangy wolves. But be careful, I hear the wolves at night, I can only imagine they prowl through the forest as well. I'll also have fresh cookies! Love, Dearest Grammy [[I suppose I have no choice but to visit the woman who birthed my mother.]] You enters the forest on your way to your grandmother's house. Along the way, you must hide from and sneak past wolves, while also disarming their traps. You nearly make it through to the cottage before the BIG BAD WOLF corners you, grabs you by the throat.. [[Resist, Red!]] BIG BAD WOLF You're the witch's progeny, aren't you? RED My grandmother is no witch! BIG BAD WOLF Tell that to my ancestors, girl! RED My grandmother has done nothing wrong! Stop harassing her or— BIG BAD WOLF Or what? [[The Big Bad Wolf hoists you a little higher. He sneers and tosses you to the ground.]] BIG BAD WOLF You'll learn soon enough. [[Well, THAT'S ominous...]] After the Big Bad Wolf runs off into the forest and you catche your breath, you continue to the cottage. Inside, you find the wolf ransacking the place, no sign of grandma. You cry out, but the Big Bad Wolf assures you that your grandmother simply ran away when his ruse of pretending to be you fell apart after gaining entrance to the cottage. The Big Bad Wolf then tells you that the "treasure" that Grandma was going to give you were actually important relics of his pack, stolen long ago. The Big Bad Wolf is certain that Grandmother absconded with the relics when she realized he had tricked her and asks you to help him recover the relics from her. While one of the relics is too important, he'd be willing to let you have the smaller relic as a reward for your help. All you need to do is find Grandmother, find out if she has the relics, and let the wolves know. They'll take care of the rest. You leave the cottage and find your grandmother in a clearing, holding the chest with the relics inside. You ask her about them and their significance to the wolves. Grandma opens the chest to reveal the relics are, in fact, your grandfather's skull and staff. The wolves had murdered him and taken his staff and skull as magical trophies. The Big Bad Wolf and several others emerge from the woods into the clearing, intent on taking the relics back. You must decide who to help... [[She IS my Grandma... (Grandma path)]] [[But is she some sort of fantasy nazi? (Wolf path)]] You choose to side with your Grandmother, who imbues you with some of her power. The two of you fight off the wolves, but only barely. The Big Bad Wolf escapes back into the woods. [[Just two ladies, kicking wolf ass.]] You choose to side with the wolves, who imbue you with lycanthropic powers. You and your new pack fight Grandma till she drops the chest and escapes to who knows where. [[Take that, Nazi Grandma!]] Hopefully those werewolves aren't LYING to you. That'd be awkward... GRANDMA Now that they know for sure I had their precious relics, they'll come again. Take the chest, escape back to the city. Take your grandfather's staff and learn. Grow stronger. RED But won't they attack you again? Come with me! GRANDMA No. I can hold them off for a while yet. It should give you time! Red reluctantly takes the chest, motions toward the skull. RED And… Grandpa? [[Grandma grimaces at the macabre nature of it all.]] GRANDMA Take it to the Royal Sepulchre and have it interred. It should be safe there. [[Royal Sepulchre? Have we been royal this whole time? What the hell am I doing running errands for, then?]] Seriously, g-ma. What gives? Fin! BIG BAD WOLF Thank you for your assistance, Red. You have the wolves' appreciation. RED What happens now? Is it over? BIG BAD WOLF It has only just begun. Your grandmother has undoubtedly run to rally forces in your city. It is no longer your problem, though. Here, the staff that I promised you. RED And… My grandfather? BIG BAD WOLF The tyrant? His skull will return to the den, where it belongs. [[Man! Everyone wants this skull!]] Maybe I want it?! Fin!
