Life at the bottom of the rabbit hole...

About the Artist:

When I was about 4 years old I took a bottle of white shoe polish - remember the kind with the dauber top? - and painted a mural on the back wall of my closet. After that my mother made sure I had paints and paper. She also made sure I had painting lessons. She taught oil painting at our house and on wednesday nights when I was young she would have my three girl cousins over for painting lessons. I learned to use a brush before I ever held a pencil and I still hold my pencil like a paintbrush. I had a teacher in grade school who tried very hard to get me to hold my pencil 'correctly'. But no.

I live in the San Joaquin Valley of California in a very little town called El Nido. My sister and brother-in-law farm in the area so I have made my home here after living in Denver, Phoenix, and Southern California. I live in the midst of acres of farmland and sometimes at night the coyotes come very close to my home!

I have studied art my entire life and most recently took classes at the Art Institute of Colorado. I paint in watercolor most of the time, although I still paint in oils, use pen and ink, and colored pencil, and have also worked in metal welding (acetylene) and stained glass. I worked for some time as a commercial graphic artist.

I am a juried member of the Art for Critters eBay Group. My paintings have appeared in many gallery shows, primarily in Scottsdale, Arizona and have won several honors over the years such as the Kieckhefer award in 1990.

I share my country home with a dog and three cats at present. This is my little munchkin Tootles who often watches me paint.
